In Minister Calandra’s December letter to parents, “Our students deserve better results and stronger outcomes, especially in reading, writing and math.” and “Our responsibility is to do everything possible to boost student achievement.” Today, he canceled TCDSB reading programs!

Don't let @PaulCalandra fool you - this year's education budget does not keep up with rising inflation and is effectively yet another #onted budget cut.
Today, our government released #ONBudget2026!: A Plan to Protect Ontario - Our government continues to deliver on its plan to lower costs for workers and businesses, while keeping life affordable for families through targeted investments in key public services. Learn more about what’s in the 2026 Ontario Budget: news.ontario.ca/en/release/1… @PBethlenfalvy @fordnation

🚨 What I don’t understand is why Doug Ford and Paul Calandra are already threatening teachers and students across Ontario over graduation speeches that haven’t even happened yet. They’re warning valedictorians and teachers: watch what you say, or we’ll invoke the Education Act. Students can’t use their voices at their own graduation? Meanwhile, police officers are under investigation and Ford’s entire caucus is silent. Crickets. Whose side is he on? Clearly not the kids. Clearly not education. This is not leadership it’s control. Share if you’re done with politicians muzzling our students.
Ontario Education Minister Paul Calandra is refusing to apologize for banning political views at graduation ceremonies. No climate justice. No Indigenous rights. No anti-racism. Just “celebrate” in silence while he polices what our kids can hear. This isn’t neutrality it’s censorship. Graduations belong to students, not Doug Ford’s government.

PSA for @PaulCalandra: Teachers have professionalism which is why your diabolical speech wasn’t published as you seem to want. Pieces of it have been shared, and teachers have been responding to it and your letter with anger and disbelief. YOU are not respected.

Let me tell you something @PaulCalandra When my daughter graduated in 2024 I had to sit through speeches from both @annarobertsmp AND @Sflecce talking about what a wonderful job their parties are doing for this province. Why is their bullshit propaganda OK for attendees?

Across the province this Saturday, March 28 there are ‘Fight Ford’ protests planned in dozens of Ontario communities. One organizer said, rallies are happening because residents are “tired of his policies that ignore the input of experts and thousands of diverse citizens.” Locations are below. #onpoli insidehalton.com/news/fight-… via @InsideHalton

Hey Ontario parents: Everyone remember NOW that all the education unions started asking to begin bargaining on **March 2nd**. If we face strikes this year, it will be entirely on the government and their refusal to come to the table. #onted #onpoli #shufflepaul
Ontario’s education unions are united. Ontario's publicly funded education system is in crisis and the government’s proposed budget, which fails students, teachers, and education workers yet again, will only exacerbate the situation. We have called for early bargaining and are ready to work toward real solutions. The government must now come to the table ready to do the same. Our focus remains on what matters most: improving learning and working conditions in Ontario’s schools so every student can succeed. Full statement: bit.ly/3PwnoHX #OSSTF#OntEd #OnPoli #ONBudget2026

I’ve read the missive sent by @PaulCalandra to school board staff My guy, your insecurities are showing - put that crap away. Muzzling free speech is never a good look. Thinly veiled attempts to silence staff & students is gross. Education is political - full stop @OFLabour

Today, OSSTF/FEESO stood alongside thousands of postsecondary students, families, advocates, and community members to say NO to OSAP cuts 🚫 We were LOUD and CLEAR: Students are being priced out of education. OSAP is being cut. Costs are rising. Funding is falling behind. They say there’s no money. But that’s not true. This is a choice. A choice between opening doors, or closing them. A choice between opportunity, or turning our backs on students. And right now, the PCs are choosing to make students pay the price.

To #OSSTF Members: You have seen Minister Calandra’s recent letter. Its tone was unacceptable. Let’s be clear. You do not need lectures on professionalism. You demonstrate it every day through the care, time, and effort you put into supporting students and making milestones like graduation ceremonies meaningful. What is missing from the Minister’s message is the reality in our schools. Provincial underfunding and understaffing are leaving students without the supports they need. You are the ones holding the system together. We see you. We value you. And we will always stand up for you. In solidarity ✊🏽

ETFO local presidents and members of the provincial Executive joined parents, students, education workers and the @OntAutism to send a united message to the government. Together we demand more for students and student supports - it's time to invest in the future! #onted #onpoli

In response to Minister Calandra’s March 20, 2026, letter to #onted educators and board staff, ETFO is deeply concerned by the tone and content. This letter represents yet another example of this govt’s growing pattern of overreach and its willingness to undermine our professional judgement. Read our statement below👇#onpoli

In #solidarity with our colleagues @ETFOPeel @OSSTFD19 331 Peel teachers are facing layoff notices. This is about more than jobs; it’s about the supports #Onted students rely on every day. Add your voices & call on the Ford govt to protect student supports & rescind these layoffs

Hey @PaulCalandra what was with the vague threatening letter to boards today? No context. Nada. Is this another “manufactured crisis”? #onted
The Minister of Education has released a letter to all "Educators and School Board Staff" - he said about 2 "serious and pressing matters" 1) He seems concerned about graduations becoming "political events" which is a "real risk to student wellbeing" - he will use "every tool available" 2) He wants to remind staff that they're to uphold the highest professional and ethical standards. Social Media is not to be used to "promote violence" or for "racist commentary, stereotyping, or inappropriate or derogatory language" Some interesting statements here. What are your thoughts? #OntEd cc: @MaritStiles @ColinDMello

1) I have never been to a “political” graduation ceremony, and the focus is always on the students and their accomplishments. 2) Educators abide by the Education Act and are already held to a high standard of professionalism. I feel like I’m missing some context here.

This letter came as a surprise to my colleagues and I. We feel that it’s far too vague to provide any sort of direction, if that’s the intent, and its tone and language come across as hostile. Not exactly a warm welcome back! #OntEd
