Making VLEO satellites for defense and connectivity today….and AI tomorrow

Most satellites can't survive at the altitude Vaxon operates at. Atmospheric drag pulls them down fast. We're building Air-Breathing Electric Propulsion to turn that atmosphere into fuel instead. Here's a look at what that makes possible.

We completed the System Requirements Review (SRR) for Neuron-1, our first satellite mission. An SRR confirms the requirements are complete, consistent and achievable before the design is built around them. Everything after depends on it. Next up: the Preliminary Design Review.

Every satellite in very low Earth orbit pays a tax to the atmosphere. Lower means stronger signals and sharper images. It also means the thing slowing you down is the thing you’re flying through.

The @FCC approved 15,000 direct-to-device satellites for @SpaceX, including a very low Earth orbit layer around 330 km. VLEO is now a commercial orbit. Staying there means fighting drag constantly. That’s the problem we’re building for at Vaxon.

More spectrum for direct-to-device raises a question about the satellites: lower orbits mean stronger signals to phones, but only if the satellites can stay there. That’s the problem we’re working on at Vaxon.

If you’re a world-class chip design or production engineer, consider joining SpaceX or Tesla. How cool would it be to iterate on designs and customize production machines at lightning speed?
Elon Musk wants to do 10 chip designs a year with Terafab compared to 1 every 2 years: "The advancement of any given technology is how many iterations, and how much progress per iteration. How many chip designs can you do, make and test in a year? These days it's typically 2 years for even 1 significant chip design, and that's kind of going from start of design to volume fabrication...we want to do more like 10 designs per year." Our CEO @StevenPShepard joined the Techne Connect podcast to talk about very low Earth orbit: why it's so hard to operate in, how air-breathing propulsion could change that, and his path from @LMSpace to founding Vaxon Space. Check it out: techne-talent.com/us/view/co…

21 down, 120+ to go. The first 21 of our approximately 150 @SemperCitiusSDA satellites are ready for the next step toward a resilient network in orbit, built to move data quickly and keep warfighters connected when it matters.
21 satellites delivered for launch into the Space Development Agency’s Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture — powering faster, secure communications and missile tracking from low Earth orbit. We’re advancing the @SemperCitiusSDA’s mission in bringing this capability to the warfighter as quickly as possible. Learn more: news.northropgrumman.com/sat…

Before @AexodusCapital, @chjango helped get the funding for the Curiosity and Perseverance rovers at @NASAJPL. Now she's an early backer of us at Vaxon Space. Vaxon and Aexodus will both be at SF Tech Week this week.

Here's part of why we have Aexodus in our corner. VLEO offers real advantages over higher orbits, but conventional propulsion can't sustain operations there. Aexodus wrote about why that gap matters: insights.aexodus.com/p/the-r…

Aexodus also wrote about us specifically: why VLEO's propulsion problem matters, and what we're building to close it. Read it here: insights.aexodus.com/p/space…
