Kind of nuts what is happening in Advanced Air Mobility space.

The fuckery will only get more advanced with AI. The end goal is to take your money.
I don't have much stomach for shorting so doing the heavy cash allocation thing at the moment. Never know when they'll just rip things back up again, particularly given midterms.

That said, looks like a backtest before plummetting post midterms (my base scenario) What does that mean for high beta? I have no clue. Already destroyed. Does high beta become negative beta and run up as the indices fall? New world order of fuckery.

$ASPI feels like I got suckered on Red Chip names a number of times, but I'm back for more pain baby
$ASPI now joins the ranks of approximately 15 commercial-scale Helium productions on earth. As a bonus, their purity is the highest, and ease of recovery is excellent.

This man has been on a heater
$ASTS Yes, you did lose all your money. But it's not just about the money. You also spent years of your life researching RF spectrum, link budgets & launch schedules, and alienated all your friends.

What are the odds of another $1b-$2b dilution on $ASTS at these prices? Not trying to doom, trying to be realistic. I am a believer but they seem to need cash for their ambitions. Hoping they get nondilutive financing support thru the JV partnership.

Elon trying to nuke the entire neocloud complex so $SPCX can scoop up all the contracts and buy out the competition for pennies on the dollar is some killer stuff. The mentality you need to succeed in an emerging industry like this, biggest reason why SpaceX is going to be the biggest and best provider of compute.

FORTRESS: The Pentagon is preparing every major U.S. military base to survive 90 days without outside support — no civilian power grid, no global supply chains, no outside fuel or water. The initiative, revealed in documents reviewed by Fox News Digital, envisions portable nuclear reactors, massive battery storage, and microgrids that can disconnect installations from civilian electricity entirely. Strategic reserves of munitions, fuel, critical minerals, and medical supplies would be stockpiled based on wartime consumption rates. Civilian factories are being pre-identified to shift to defense production during a crisis. Pentagon chief spokesperson Sean Parnell put it bluntly: "Power is combat now. Without electricity, you lose communications, water, logistics, assembly lines and just basic military command structures." Full story here foxnews.com/politics/inside-…

There’s a really pronounced divide between people who are on the AI side of things and people who are on the biology side of things. Even among people working in AI, the divide persists based on where they’re focused. The AI side, adherents of scaling laws and the bitter lesson, believe that AI getting better means AI being more capable of novel discoveries in medicine (that go beyond discovering new drugs in well understood targets or speeding up dry lab work etc). The biology people think the idea of a bitter lesson in biology is kind of ridiculous and that regardless of AI’s capabilities it’s going to be at least 5-10 years until you could hope to reliably simulate human toxicology in silico (right now AI/ML can’t even reliably simulate in vivo studies like binding affinities or functional assays). Even the most AI pilled of them, who will list all the areas that AI can reduce the time spent on various areas, don’t think the concept of AI discovering novel targets or generating new understanding of causal biology is realistic in the near term. Most, in fact, will readily characterize the assumption that even an “ASI” level model could find cures hidden in our current understanding (without expanding that understanding with significantly more biological data) as patently false. This was a big part of why we wanted to experience it ourselves by using AI for a (very) small portion of what it can do in biology. It was both mind blowing and revealed some poignant insights into how different the problem of making AI better at something like coding is to the problems of biology. Even if it unlocked the ability to generate new molecules at a stunning pace, its simulation (in silico) of binding only had 49% accuracy. And if we wanted to improve that, we’d need to feed it back the data from the lab - data that took about 30x as long to get as it took to generate the molecules. And these were tests in a test tube (turn of phrase), imagine how long it would take if we wanted to improve the model with data that required recruiting humans and monitoring their reactions. Human biology is very complex, and adding a drug - especially a novel drug and doubly so for a novel drug acting on a novel mechanism - means mapping interactions that have nth-order-effects that we don’t have the data to predict. Virtual cells have made advancements enabled by AI, but the perturbations equate to a small fraction of the possible. This is before you even get into curing disease, especially uniquely human diseases. Brain function involves cellular identities that are unique to humans, meaning animal studies are of little use. How long does it take to understand what the side effects of chronic administration of a drug in humans are? AI can speed up analyzing the data, or designing the trial or even getting it approved…but it can’t make a 6 month trial complete in 3 months. I think its important to point out that significant advancements can be made in AI that contribute to biology, while also being realistic about how much it speeds up something as complex as curing a specific cancer or diseases of the brain.

Great thematic read $XBI
$ABVX Couple things I noted today. 1) The ABVX fans love to talk about how bad this specific stock is. But looking at a group of late-stage, pre-commercial biotech peers since August 20th, the weakness looks a lot less ABVX-specific. ABVX is down ~26%, versus a peer median of ~27%. Different stories and catalysts, but ABVX is right in the middle of the group. 2) The latest Markit securities-lending update shows a sharp drop in reported shares on loan, from ~2.6m to ~460k. My read is that this is consistent with the possible “large short” I previously flagged having covered. The drop shows up in the October 21 data, immediately after the October 20 +5.8% rally, which has since largely fizzled out. Disclosure: Creek Drive and its affiliated funds holds a long position in ABVX. $ASTS hey now
$ASTS $SPCX: 🚨@AST_SpaceMobile requests STA renewal with Grain Management's 800 MHz spectrum AST SpaceMobile requests renewal of its 30-day Special Temporary Authorization (“STA”)2 to continue operations at 817-824 MHz (uplink) and 862-869 MHz (downlink) for purposes of testing, evaluating, and demonstrating the AST SpaceMobile network’s broadband supplemental coverage from space (“SCS”) capabilities with its authorized in-orbit nongeostationary orbit satellite constellation. Kinda confusing and interesting that this renewal is occurring as @SpaceX and Grain already announced their definitive agreement. Although the transaction is subject to @FCC approval and other customary closing conditions, I don't think there is much question as to whether or not the transaction will be approved. Maybe a nothingburger, but I am sharing for discussion and visibility. fccprod.servicenowservices.c…

Midterms are in 2 weeks on November 3rd. *If* this market still has legs to recover, we should find out pretty soon thereafter. No need to have your leash tugged back & forth by the price action until then. Plenty of cash to attack new opportunities when they present themselves.

With these new results this week (treating to endoscopic remission - not symptomatic remission - reduces complications in ulcerative colitis) I did the network meta-analysis to see how the current drugs stack up. This is every advanced therapy that reported endoscopic remission (Mayo endoscopic subscore=0) in a phase 3 maintenance trial. Drugs that did not report this, that failed, or that were subsequently discontinued are not included. There is a clear winner:
